Catalog #1, Summer 2011

This catalog of (54) lots focuses on the Greek and Latin Classics, including both early editions and modern scholarly texts. However, there are representatives from many other categories, including African-American Literature, Children’s Books, Modern Firsts, Signed Editions, Philosophy, Psychology and Literary Theory.

There are a number of highlights, including lot #54, a 1514 Aldine edition of Valerius Maximus in lovely early vellum; lot #15, 1570 Estienne edition of Diogenes Laertes; lot #1, a Complete Set of the Heritage Series of Black Poetry in a custom box, limited to just (25) sets; and lot #42, an outstanding copy of Rowlandson’s English Dance of Death bound by Riviere.

This is my very first catalog and its composition has been quite an adventure. Those among my readers who themselves are booksellers will hopefully look upon the following pages kindly, remembering their own fledgling days, the attendant joy and fear, the blissful unawareness, and above all the desire to succeed in a business so full of already well-established names.

Many thanks are in order (a surprising number, actually, given the length of the document) but they have all been thanked or are all aware of their importance. In the meantime, please contact me with any questions about material seen in this catalog and I look forward to hearing from you!
